Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic nurses to join the Adult Safeguarding Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We are expanding the team and have a vacancy for a Band 7 Safeguarding Adults Clinical Nurse Specialist. This full‑time position (Monday‑Sunday) is based across all five Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sites.

The team at ICHT supports staff to safeguard patients, enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. A key responsibility of this role is to ensure the workforce is equipped—through education, support and advice—to recognise and respond appropriately and proportionately to abuse and neglect.

Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Named Nurses for Safeguarding Adults, promoting the safeguarding agenda across the Trust to ensure compliance with the Care Act (2014) and the Mental Capacity Act (2005). Provide evidence through audit and review.
  • Maintain standards in relation to safeguarding, as set out in Trust policies and procedures.
  • Act as a resource to staff when issues relating to safeguarding or mental capacity arise.
  • Oversee the domestic abuse email inbox, coordinate research for the MARAC (Multi‑Agency Risk Assessment Conference) meetings attended by the Trust, maintain a spreadsheet, and work closely with the wider safeguarding team, which covers all safeguarding specialities, including the Learning Disability and Autism team.
  • Review safeguarding referrals and provide in‑reach support and leadership in complex cases.
  • Liaise with partner agencies to ensure information is shared appropriately.
  • Act as a resource for clinical staff regarding Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), sharing good practice and identifying areas requiring increased training and support.
  • Work alongside the Named Nurses to ensure that the patient voice is captured and that learning from patient experience, and internal or external reviews, is disseminated and embedded into practice.
Benefits and Working Conditions
  • Career development opportunities.
  • Flexible working and wellbeing support.
  • Staff recognition scheme.
  • Optional benefits:
Cycle to Work, car lease schemes, season ticket loan, membership options for onsite leisure facilities.
  • Consideration for flexible, part‑time or job‑share arrangements.

We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff.
