Children's Tracheostomy Practitioner; CNS or PT

Overview

This role will establish and develop a dedicated paediatric tracheostomy service at the Royal London Hospital, acting as the expert clinical lead and primary point of contact for children, young people, families and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post‑holder will drive service development, clarify and embed care pathways, and deliver high‑quality education to both clinical staff and families – ensuring safe, seamless care from diagnosis through to discharge and community follow‑up.

• Act as the clinical lead and primary contact for children, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Drive the development and implementation of a paediatric tracheostomy service.
• Clarify and embed care pathways for paediatric tracheostomy patients.
• Deliver high‑quality education to clinical staff and families.
• Ensure safe, seamless care from diagnosis through to discharge and community follow‑up.

• Clinically credible nurse with experience in paediatric acute or critical care nursing.
• Able to utilise clinical expertise and specialist knowledge to deliver evidence‑based care to acutely unwell, deteriorating ward‑based patients.
• Recognised children’s critical care qualification or significant acute emergency pathway experience (desired).
• Current APLS/EPALS provider.
• Proven leadership, negotiation and communication skills with multidisciplinary team members.

This role is based at the Royal London Hospital within Barts Health NHS Trust.
