The Occupational Health Clinic Nurse role will form part of the North West London Occupational Health Shared Service team, helping to promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of staff. This is a full‑time Clinic Nurse, primarily based at Hillingdon Hospital with flexibility to cover other sites.
Responsibilities- Assess employee fitness to work and manage blood‑borne and other occupational health incidents.
- Provide vaccinations, venepuncture and administer immunisation programmes.
- Use a comprehensive OH record‑keeping system to input and retrieve clinical data (e.g., immunisation details and test results).
- Answer telephone and electronic queries as a duty nurse, providing sign‑posting and health and wellbeing advice.
- Support individuals with disabilities in gaining and sustaining employment.
- Promote employee health and protection at work.
- Participate in the quality, monitoring and evaluation of the occupational health service.
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining effective communication.
- Practice high standards of client care in a variety of clinical and non‑clinical settings in line with NMC standards.
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- Keep accurate, legible client records in line with professional and legal requirements.
- Manage and sign‑post clients who are distressed or may be aggressive, providing support during emotionally challenging circumstances.
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Post‑registration experience in primary and secondary care (e.g., A&E, GP practice, adult vaccination teams, or acute nursing).
- Experience in health promotion activities and in working within a team.
- Venepuncture experience.
- Proficient IT skills and experience using clinical databases.
- Good communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
- Prior experience in occupational health within the NHS or a similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, data protection, safeguarding and confidentiality principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, commute across sites, and provide emergency support under pressure.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and willingness to undertake further training in occupational health.
