Overview
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our renowned Cancer Nursing Team at Private Care s role offers the opportunity to build a specialist career within haematology and oncology, working alongside world‑class clinicians and gaining exposure to advanced cancer treatments. You will care for patients on a 20‑bedbed Haematology and Oncology inpatient ward, including dedicated stem cell transplant rooms, within a highly specialised, CQC‑Outstanding private cancer centre.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to oncology and haematology patients.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with organisational policies and NMC standards.
- Monitor, record and report changes in patients’ conditions, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Support patients undergoing complex cancer treatments and procedures, providing emotional support, education and advice.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy and respect at all times.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, discharge planning and coordination of ongoing care.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures and all relevant clinical policies.
- Identify and report risks, incidents and safeguarding concerns.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives and governance activities.
- Reflect on practice and contribute to a culture of continual learning and improvement.
- Support junior colleagues, students and newly qualified staff where appropriate.
Actively participate in training, education and continuing professional development activities. Develop specialist knowledge and skills within oncology, haematology and stem cell transplantation. Maintain compliance with mandatory training and professional registration requirements. Support junior colleagues, students and newly qualified staff to nurture their growth.
Essential Experience- Post‑registration nursing experience within an acute healthcare setting.
- Experience delivering high‑quality patient care in a ward environment.
- Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong assessment and clinical decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding patient‑centred care.
- Understanding of professional accountability and NMC standards.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with in Oncology, Haematology or Cancer Services.
- Chemotherapy administration experience or willingness to undertake specialist training.
- Experience caring for patients with complex medical needs.
- Knowledge of stem cell transplantation pathways.
- Completion of mentorship or practice assessor training.
