Clinical Nurse Specialist – Merton CAMHS

Come and join our nursing team in Merton CAMHS. We have developed an opportunity for a Nurse Prescriber with previous CAMHS experience working across our Single Point of Access (SPA) and Tier 3 team, supporting the ADHD pathway.
The service operates within South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, providing outpatient and consultation services to children and adolescents with a range of mental health and developmental difficulties.
Responsibilities- Manage a highly specialist service for children and young people with ADHD and comorbid mental health difficulties, including assessment and medication review clinics.
- Analyze complex information to plan and manage assessment and treatment of CYP with ADHD and co‑morbid conditions.
- Provide expertise and advice on client care to other team members and external partners.
- Offer training in assessment and interventions for CYP with ADHD to CAMHS and other professional networks.
- Liaise with medical colleagues, partner agencies and adult mental health professionals across a range of settings.
- Work autonomously within professional practice guidelines and Trust guidelines.
- Contribute to policy, service development, research, service evaluation and audit.
- Work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with medical colleagues to deliver timely and efficient treatment.
- Actively prescribe for service users once registered with the professional and Trust registers.
- Maintain a defined caseload where non‑medical prescribing enhances service delivery.
- Conduct comprehensive treatment reviews and maintain concordance with prescribed medicines.
- Access CPD opportunities for non‑medical prescribing via Trust‑based supervision groups and workshops.
- Participate in research and audit programmes pertaining to non‑medical prescribing.
- First‑level nursing qualification (registration RMN or RSCN or HV) with related CAMHS experience and postgraduate MSc‑level qualification or equivalent.
- Professional development in child and adolescent mental health, including evidence of clinical, audit or research presentations at local and national events.
- Professional registration with a statutory body such as the Nursing Midwifery Council, General Social Care Council, Health Professionals Council or an applicable psychological or psychotherapy body.
- Non‑medical prescriber with appropriate NMC registration.
- Formal training in supervision.
- Additional specialist post‑qualification training such as ADOS, SAVRY, ADI, CAI, Fostering Changes or Parent/Child Game.
- MSc qualification related to or equivalent, with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio including specialist mental health assessment and treatment of children and young people.
- Minimum 12 months experience as a non‑medical prescriber within a CAMHS service.
- Experience working with children and young people with ADHD.
- Experience managing complex and high‑risk cases.
- Experience providing consultation to, and clinical supervision of, other staff.
- Experience delivering teaching and training to multidisciplinary groups.
- Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience developing and conducting research projects with troubled children and young people.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Experience clinical leadership and support across disciplines, including recruitment, supervision and appraisal.
- Experience multi‑agency collaboration and integrated working.

Salary: £63,665 to £70,887 per annum inclusive of Inner London HCAs.
