Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Specialist Biomedical Scientist with significant experience in Cellular Pathology who will join our expanding team and work on rotation through our dynamic, forward‑thinking laboratory. After training you will rotate through specialist services, including Immunohistochemistry, Moh's surgery, OSNA (One Step Nucleic Acid Amplification) and Neuropathology.
Responsibilities- Perform biopsy transfer, embedding, microtomy, special stains and frozen sections.
- Work through clinical rotations across Immunohistochemistry, Moh's surgery, OSNA, and Neuropathology services.
- Maintain and support a high‑throughput Cellular Pathology laboratory that processes over 60,000 cases a year across 10 specialities.
- Assist in the implementation of Leica digital pathology technology with a go‑live target of July 2025.
- Support the development of a new immunohistochemistry laboratory, expected to be completed in August 2025.
- Significant experience in Cellular Pathology, including biopsy transfer, embedding, microtomy, special stains, and frozen sections.
- Familiarity with modern state‑of‑the‑art equipment such as the Ventana Ultra Plus, Leica Bond Prime, Dako Artisan Special Stainer, and Dream Path block & slide storage system.
- Strong interest in continuous professional development and willingness to participate in CPD opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a large, multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to work at any SWLP site, primarily based rge's Hospital.

Location & Working EnvironmentThe post is based rge's Hospital but the holder may be required to work at any of the SWLP sites as necessary. SWLP brings together four leading Hospital Trusts to provide an integrated, high‑quality pathology service across South West London.
