Job Description Summary

As Medical Lead Immunology
, you will provide strategic scientific leadership for the Immunology therapeutic area, shaping the local medical strategy in line with global and international priorities. You will lead scientific engagement strategy, steer evidence generation priorities, drive high‑value external partnerships, and ensure medical plans are translated into impactful outcomes. You will collaborate across functions and with external stakeholders to drive scientific excellence, advance patient outcomes, and support the successful delivery of the Immunology portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for medical input to cross‑functional brand planning.
  • Translate external insights, evolving standards of care, and evidence gaps into actionable recommendations that inform therapeutic area priorities, cross‑functional decision‑making, and long‑term medical impact.
  • When indicated undertake pipeline assessments and launch planning activities.
  • Design, execute medical education initiatives and ensure quality of scientific materials.
  • Organise congress activities in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
  • Leads high‑level scientific engagement, builds and sustains strong scientific relationships with Medical Experts, relevant system stakeholders, professional societies and patient organisations, fostering credible, unbiased scientific dialogue.
  • Represent Novartis as a credible scientific voice at congresses, scientific events, and expert forums.
  • Strengthen connections across the medical ecosystem to support joint value creation and external collaboration.
  • Implement external scientific engagement activities.
  • Ensure compliant, evidence‑based interactions consistently aligned with Novartis governance.
  • Synthesise insights to influence TA strategy, identify evidence gaps, and shape medical priorities.
  • Contribute to local TA evidence strategy and medical leadership of local studies including real world evidence.
  • Input to local clinical trial feasibility as directed.
  • Contribute to market access readiness in collaboration with V&A by informing the market access dossier with clinical attributes and patient‑related outcomes.
  • Ensures all activities run to internal and external standards and to time and budget.
  • Responsible for timely and appropriate assessments of managed access requests, cross border requests, study proposals, and support for (medical) sponsor ships and congress attendance for medical education.
  • Support for critical activities in TA aligned commercial products.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, collaboration, integrity, inclusion, and continuous learning across the team.
  • Support onboarding and mentor junior team members.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable Novartis policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Foster strong cross‑functional collaboration with commercial, market access, regulatory, clinical development, and global medical teams.
Essential Requirements
  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc, or equivalent) in a relevant life sciences discipline.
  • Significant experience within Medical Affairs, Medical Affairs, customer‑facing scientific roles, cross‑functional collaboration, external engagement, clinical study design, clinical/scientific communication.
  • Experience translating external insights and scientific trends into therapeutic area strategy, evidence priorities, or medical planning.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate scientific insights, external trends, and evidence gaps into clear therapeutic area priorities and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience influencing cross‑functional decisions.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate strategy into execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders in a matrix environment and partnering with senior internal and external stakeholders to shape medical priorities and engagement approaches.
  • Deep understanding of medical governance, compliance requirements, and the healthcare environment.
