About Marley Health

Marley Health is building a new clinical health platform for pets. Spun out of the University of Oxford and the Royal Veterinary College, we combine wearable technology, clinically validated biomarkers and AI to bring proactive, high-quality insights to vets and pet owners.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced veterinary researcher to lead our clinical research strategy. Reporting to the CMO, you'll design and deliver our clinical studies, and turn what we learn into publications and communications that make sense to everyone from vets to investors.

What You Will Do Research strategy and publications

Own and develop the veterinary clinical research roadmap, aligned with Marley Health's product and evidence-generation priorities. Identify and recommend research areas that will most clearly demonstrate the device's impact on animal welfare, clinical outcomes and veterinary care. Design clinical studies and produce supporting documentation, including study protocols and ethics submissions. Review relevant publications, study designs and research methods used by other devices and adjacent technologies and translate insights into Marley's research plans.

Lead the development and delivery of the scientific publication strategy. Write and contribute to peer-reviewed research publications as lead author, principal investigator or collaborator, including work undertaken with Marley's machine learning colleagues. Present research findings and scientific materials at conferences and other professional forums.

Study delivery and partnerships

Oversee study delivery, from planning and set-up through recruitment, data collection, close-out and reporting. Manage relationships with external collaborators, veterinary nurses, Royal Veterinary College staff and other study partners. Identify and approach potential research collaborators and clinical sites. Prepare draft budgets and resource plans for clinical studies. Report study progress, risks, decisions and recommendations to the Chief Medical Officer.

Data and clinical interpretation

Analyse and interpret clinical study data, applying appropriate statistical methods and sound veterinary judgement. Provide clinical insight to the machine learning teams Prepare tailored scientific communications that explain clinical findings clearly and accurately to general veterinary practitioners, pet owners, the public and potential investors. Partner with PR and communications colleagues to communicate research findings responsibly and effectively.

Leadership

Collaborate with product and technical teams, providing veterinary and clinical insight throughout product development when required. Line manage and support the development of the Clinical Research Nurse. Contribute as a clinical voice in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.

What We Are Looking For Essential Experience

A veterinary degree and current eligibility to practice as a vet surgeon in the UK. Postgraduate research training: a PhD, MRes, MSc or equivalent experience. A track record of peer-reviewed publications, ideally as lead author or PI. Experience preparing research protocols and ethics submissions. Confidence analysing clinical data, with solid statistical skills. Excellent written and spoken scientific communication. Experience building relationships with external research collaborators.

Strong project management - comfortable running multiple studies at once.

Desirable Experience

Experience with predictive modelling Experience working with wearable technology, digital health, diagnostics, medical devices or other regulated health products. Experience collaborating with data science or machine learning teams. Previous line-management or research-team leadership experience. A strong network across veterinary academia, referral practice or clinical research.

Why Join Us?

Lead the evidence strategy for a product that will change veterinary care. Work alongside a mission-driven team focused on scientific quality, execution and meaningful impact. Collaborate with world-class veterinary, clinical and technical expertise from the University of Oxford, the Royal Veterinary College and Marley Health. Shape the research function and make visible contributions to Marley's core product and clinical credibility. Competitive salary, hybrid working, London office space, 25 days' holiday, company laptop and supporting technology.
