Position: Research and Quality Officer (0.8 FTE, FTC until 28 February 2027)
Location: City of Westminster

About the job:

The Research and Quality Officer will support the delivery of ETF's research, evaluation and quality assurance activities and form an important link between the research and quality teams. The postholder will work across teams to ensure the effective collection, storage, management and analysis of data, while contributing to quality assurance processes, reporting, research projects and organisational insight. The role will play an important part in ensuring that evidence, data and quality information are accurate, accessible and used effectively to support decision-making, continuous improvement and organisational learning.

Research

Support
  • Support the planning and delivery of research and evaluation projects across ETF programmes.
  • Assist with data collection activities including surveys, interviews, focus groups and desk-based research.
  • Conduct reviews and background research to inform projects and reports.
  • Support the analysis and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Contribute to the production of research reports, summaries, presentations and briefing papers.
  • Maintain project documentation and research records.
Quality Assurance
  • Support the implementation and administration of ETF quality assurance processes.
  • Assist with the collection and management of quality-related evidence from programmes and activities.
  • Monitor compliance with established quality frameworks, procedures and standards.
  • Support internal audits, reviews and quality improvement activities.
  • Track actions arising from quality reviews and support follow-up activities.

    Identify opportunities to improve data quality and quality assurance processes.
Data Collection and Management
  • Coordinate data collection activities across projects and programmes.
  • Ensure data is collected, stored and handled in accordance with organisational policies and data protection requirements.
  • Maintain accurate datasets and records.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data management systems and processes.
  • Produce routine monitoring information and performance reports.
Reporting and Insight
  • Produce regular reports, dashboards and summaries to support programme delivery and organisational decision-making.
  • Assist in analysing trends, patterns and emerging findings from research and operational data.

    Present findings in accessible formats for a range of audiences.
  • Support the development of evidence-based recommendations for service improvement.
  • Contribute to organisational reporting requirements and stakeholder updates.
Stakeholder Support
  • Build positive working relationships with internal colleagues, external partners and stakeholders.
  • Respond to requests for information, data and research support.
  • Support meetings, workshops and events relating to research and quality activities.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to promote evidence-informed practice and continuous improvement.
Your profile

ETF will be moving to interim office arrangements from November 2026 in Zone 1 in London until we move into our new permanent home (also in Zone 1 London).

The successful candidate will have:

Experience, skills, and knowledge

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
  • Experience of data collection, management and analysis
  • Experience of supporting research, evaluation or quality assurance activities
  • Experience of producing reports and presenting findings clearly
  • Experience of maintaining accurate datasets and records
  • Knowledge of data protection and information governance requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret data and turn findings into practical insights
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
Information

0.8 FTE (4 days per week). Fixed term contract until 28 February 2027.
