Are you a PhD graduate in Climate Science, Meteorology, Weather Science, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science, Geography, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline looking to apply your research skills in a commercial environment?

We are partnering with one of the UK's largest insurance organisations to hire a Graduate Climate & Catastrophe Research Analyst. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly respected team focused on climate risk and catastrophe research while receiving direct mentorship from an experienced hiring manager with a strong track record of developing early-career talent.

Despite the scale and reputation of the business, the team has a collaborative and relatively flat structure, giving you visibility, responsibility, and exposure from day one.

No prior insurance or catastrophe modelling experience is required. The specific technical skillset needed for the role will be taught through structured training and hands‑on support. The team is looking for potential, curiosity, and ambition above all else.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support climate risk assessment and catastrophe research projects.
  • Assist in the evaluation and validation of climate and catastrophe models.
  • Analyse weather, climate, and catastrophe-related data sets.
  • Present findings and insights to a range of stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with experienced specialists across the organisation.
  • Contribute new ideas and challenge existing approaches in a constructive manner.
  • Develop expertise in climate risk and catastrophe analytics through ongoing training and mentorship.
About You
  • PhD completed or nearing completion in a relevant scientific or quantitative discipline.
  • Ambitious, curious, and eager to learn.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Comfortable questioning assumptions and contributing your own ideas.
  • Interested in applying academic research within a commercial setting.
  • Looking to build a long-term career in climate risk and catastrophe analytics.
What's on Offer
  • Salary of £45,000 - £55,000.
  • Direct mentorship from a highly experienced hiring manager.
  • Comprehensive training with all role-specific skills taught on the job.
  • Exposure to senior stakeholders within one of the UK's largest insurers.
  • A genuinely supportive environment focused on learning and development.
  • Hybrid working with just one day per week in the London office.
  • Excellent long-term career progression opportunities.
  • The chance to start your career in London, the global hub of insurance, within a growing and increasingly important area of the market.
