Senior Business Development Manager - Life Sciences & Healthcare

Position

Senior Business Development Manager – Life Sciences & Healthcare (LS&H), based in Bristol or London.

This role drives accelerated, profitable growth for the LS&H group by identifying and delivering internal and external BD activities that capture cross‑border opportunities. It requires influencing and challenging at partner level, a strong commercial understanding of Osborne Clarke’s global business, and a focus on key service lines such as Intellectual Property, Data/AI, Regulatory, Corporate & M&A, and Venture Capital.

• Lead and manage the LS&H BD team in the UK and coordinate closely with BD members based outside the UK to build a cohesive cross‑border team focused on internationalising clients and opportunities.
• Work with sector leadership to agree an international sector strategy, budget and critical objectives; create and own the UK country plan and be accountable for its delivery.
• Build cross‑border growth by identifying, progressing and capturing opportunities from both existing and target clients, with a particular focus on key service lines.
• Drive client development by deepening existing relationships and pursuing profitable revenue growth, collaborating with service‑line teams to identify and pursue opportunities.
• Collaborate with BD, Marketing and service‑line teams to develop bundled service offerings and oversee sales & marketing activities that promote growth across the LS&H sector.
• Develop and deliver a sector communications strategy aligned with wider business objectives, raising the LS&H profile in priority segments across the UK and internationally.
• Interpret financial and pipeline data to identify trends, inform decisions and refine strategic focus, ensuring activity aligns tightly with firm‑wide objectives.
• Influence and challenge at partner and senior‑management level, securing commitment around competing priorities and driving accountability for commercial impact.
• Lead through change, maintain strong stakeholder influence, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as Communications, BD, Client Relationship Development, Events, Marketing and Bids.
• Apply strong analytical skills to analyze complex information and provide clear, concise advice.

• Proven track record of developing and executing successful LS&H sector BD strategies and growth initiatives.
• Ability to influence and challenge at partner and senior‑management level, demonstrating confident stakeholder leadership.
• Strong leadership and team‑management skills, with experience leading through change.
• Excellent communication skills, able to build credibility and influence senior management and Partners.
• Experience working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills, able to analyse complex data and deliver concise advice.
• A proactive, commercially focused and results‑driven approach.
• Relevant industry knowledge in biotech, pharmaceuticals, Med Tech/Digital Health and healthcare.
