Position: Social Worker (Adolescent Team) - Maternity Cover
Location: City Of London

Overview

Qualified Social Worker – Adolescent / Contextual Safeguarding Team. Fixed term (12 months) – Secondments can be considered. Full time (36 hours) in Wandsworth. Ofsted Rating: ‘Good’. Salary up to £46,206 per annum.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake the breadth of statutory social work interventions from initial assessments to CIN / CP and CLA work.
  • Maintain a lower than usual caseload of around 8-10 young people and work intensively and creatively using a contextual safeguarding approach.
  • Develop targeted intervention plans with the aim of mitigating risks of extra-familial harm, promoting safety in different contexts, and supporting young people to achieve their potential free from harm.
  • Adopt a relationship-based and trauma-informed approach; engage young people with reliable, consistent, and persistent efforts; assess experiences in the community; work with multi-agency partners to plan, implement and review interventions.
  • Ensure anti-racist and anti-discriminatory practice is at the heart of work; strive for safe, fair, and respectful treatment of young people and families.
Essential Qualifications, Skills And Experience
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England with relevant statutory practice experience with children, young people and their families.
  • Understanding of Trauma Informed, Systematic Practice, and issues for young people at risk of extra-familial harm including Child Sexual Exploitation, Criminal Exploitation, Serious Youth Violence, Gangs, Missing and online/social media abuse.
  • Skilled in building trusting relationships and in effective communication across contexts.
  • Experience of multi-agency working, collaborating creatively and flexibly to ensure young people’s wishes and feelings are central to decisions and intervention plans.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying anti-discriminatory, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist practice.
  • Experience and confidence in undertaking high-quality assessments and reports, managing risk, and reviewing the impact of interventions.
Additional Information

As part of our evolving team, you will work within a trauma-informed framework to address extra-familial harm, including Child Sexual Exploitation and other risks outside the family home. You will be expected to work collaboratively with families and professional networks to create safety and support positive outcomes for young people.
