Job Description & How to Apply Below
Service Care Solutions is seeking a qualified and experienced Probation Officer (PO) to join the newly established Impact Cases Team within the London Probation Region. Based at Bexley PDU, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an innovative approach focused on delivering desistance‑based interventions to high‑impact service users. Unlike traditional roles, this post does not involve standard caseload management.
Instead, you will work intensively with a select group of individuals identified as “impact cases” to support sustained behaviour change, promote desistance, and reduce reoffending through targeted intervention work.
- Desistance‑Based Interventions
:
Deliver structured, evidence‑led desistance work specifically tailored to individuals identified as impact cases. Use motivational techniques and engagement strategies to build rapport and encourage positive behavioural change. Support service users in identifying personal strengths, goals, and meaningful pathways away from offending. - Assessment & Collaboration
:
Undertake focused risk and needs assessments to identify barriers to desistance. Work closely with internal colleagues, partner agencies, and local services to coordinate holistic support for impact cases. Contribute to multi‑agency planning, ensuring that interventions are aligned with risk management plans. - Monitoring & Compliance
:
Ensure compliance with probation requirements through regular contact and targeted work sessions. Take appropriate action where risk escalates or non‑compliance occurs. - Documentation & Reporting
:
Maintain accurate and timely records of all interventions and service user engagement. Provide concise updates to managers and stakeholders regarding progress, challenges, and risk‑related matters. - Crisis Response
:
Respond effectively to emerging risks or crises, ensuring swift escalation and coordination with relevant teams.
- Qualified Probation Officer (PQIP or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of desistance theory, risk assessment, and offender rehabilitation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate individuals with complex needs.
- Ability to work independently within a fast‑paced and evolving team structure.
- IR35 Status:
Inside IR35 - Travel: £1,000 travel allowance included
- Facilities:
On‑site car park available, though spaces operate on a staff rota - Pay: £28.63 – £33.42 (£22.90 – £27.05 PAYE approx)
