Volunteer Mentor; Community

Overview

It's often overwhelming for the people we support to make changes in their lives. You can help by donating your time as a Volunteer Mentor. Based in Bromley, this role supports people who need help with drug & alcohol problems.

• Support the people who use our services by offering them one-to-one support in the community.
• Work alongside the team within recovery-based groups both online and face-to-face, including re-engagement, check-ins and chat, 1:1 mentoring, and promoting service user involvement.

• Engage with people who use our services and build positive and trusting professional relationships. Help people to build self-confidence to achieve their recovery goals and make positive changes. You may be the first point of contact for many who may be accessing services for the first time, providing a listening ear with a non-judgemental approach.

• Through lived experience, contribute to a strengths-based approach and adapt as your experience and confidence grows. You will receive comprehensive training and have day-to-day guidance available, along with a named supervisor you will meet regularly.

By volunteering with us you will gain valuable experience and skills, as well as making a real difference.

• Peer Mentors/Volunteers will have lived experience of substance misuse, which helps in understanding, engaging, and supporting individuals to access services.
• Role designed to be strengths-based and evolve with your experience and confidence.
• Requires you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role.
• This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
