About us ...Thames Reach runs projects and services that help to end homelessness in and around London. We work directly with homeless people on the streets and in hostels. We work to prevent vulnerable people from becoming homeless. We help formerly homeless people get their lives back on track. We help people find work and access training and volunteering opportunities.

About this role...We are looking for a Support Worker to join the Greenwich Housing First Team.
Floating Support services work with people to sustain their housing. We use a strength-based approach to work with people to identify what support they require and how we can address them together or / and in collaboration with others e.g. landlords, Department of Work and pension or mental health services.
We can support people for the duration of their tenancy, or we can provide short term interventions. We can provide resettlement support when a tenancy commences, and we can equip people with the skills to manage their home and goals independently or when they are move on ready and require minimal support.
We will not accept applications where Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been used to assist with completing the competency questions.
You will:- Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with people who have experienced long-term and repeated cycles of homelessness and/or entrenched rough sleeping.
- Provide long-term, intensive and person-led support to help people move towards independence, settle into accommodation and make it feel like home.
- Create personalised support plans with individuals, empowering them to identify their goals and aspirations and take active steps towards achieving them.
- Work alongside council tenancy teams, income officers and other internal council services to help individuals understand, manage and sustain their tenancies.
- Undertake support, risk management and safeguarding work, often in partnership with multiple agencies, to respond effectively to complex needs and changing circumstances.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the Housing First model, applying its principles to support people with complex histories to build stability, choice and connection within their local community.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with people experiencing long-term homelessness and complex needs, as well as effective working relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
- A strong commitment to person-led support, empowering people to achieve positive outcomes, work towards greater independence and sustain accommodation.
- Confidence and resilience in supporting people with complex histories, including the ability to respond calmly and creatively to challenges, risk and changing circumstances.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records and administration.
- Competence in using computers and a range of software packages to complete day-to-day casework, reporting and administrative tasks.
- A positive, flexible team approach, with a willingness to share knowledge and good practice and to keep developing skills in line with the needs of the team, clients and Housing First model.
