Range from Point 20 to 23 (£37,794 - £39,519 FTE) prorated to (£32,851 to £34,351) for term time only

Tiffin School is looking to appoint a Safeguarding and Pastoral Support Officer to join our growing team.

Working in partnership with the DSL, Safeguarding Manager and DDSLs to proactively protect students and uphold all statutory safeguarding duties, including:

• Risk Identification & Intervention:
  Identifying students at risk of harm, conducting robust risk assessments, and creating targeted safety plans.
• Casework & Multi-Agency Liaison:
  Managing referrals and collaborating with external agencies to secure early help and statutory support.
• Student Advocacy & Pastoral Care:
  Advocating for vulnerable learners and overseeing effective pastoral interventions to support their safety and well-being.

• Pastoral Care:
  Partner with the KS3 and KS4 teams to provide exceptional emotional and welfare support alongside students' academic journeys.
• Visible Presence:
  Act as an accessible bridge connecting students, parents, and pastoral leadership.
• Culture & Inclusion:
  Proactively enhance student well-being, attendance, and positive behaviour to cultivate a strong sense of belonging at Tiffin School.

Experience with safeguarding systems within a school or relevant setting, including:

• Working with Children & Young People:
  Direct experience within an educational, social care, or youth-work setting.
• Relationship Building:
  Developing positive, trusting relationships with students and parents, with a focus on supporting vulnerable families.
• Safeguarding & Multi-Agency Frameworks:
  Practical experience and thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures across the Continuum of Need/Care (spanning universal services, early help, Child in Need, and Child Protection).

  Communicating and working collaboratively with Children s Social Care, local authorities, and external support agencies.
• Promoting Best Practice:
  Implementing, embedding, and advocating for high standards of safeguarding practice across a team or wider organisation.

• Qualifications:
  
  Hold a Level 3 qualification (A-Levels, NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent), ideally within a field relevant to safeguarding, pastoral care, education, or social care.
• Continuum of Need / Care:
  Strong understanding of local authority thresholds across all tiers from universal services and early help/family help, through to Child in Need (s17) and Child Protection (s47) statutory care.
• Vulnerable Groups & Specific Risks:
  Familiarity with specific safeguarding risks affecting vulnerable groups, such as children with SEND, Looked After Children (LAC), young carers, and those at risk of exploitation (CCE/CSE), radicalisation, or county lines.
• Data Protection & Record-Keeping:
  Thorough understanding of record-keeping requirements, confidentiality, and information-sharing protocols (e.g., GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and CPOMS/MyConcern software).

This position involves substantial contact with children and is subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
