You'll lead engineering, solution architecture and technical delivery, ensuring the organisation's applications and platforms are secure, scalable, resilient and aligned to business priorities.

The Opportunity

A key focus will be the modernisation of an established technology estate, including a legacy  and SQL environment, modernising the existing .NET and Azure platform and evolving the user experience towards a modern React-based UI.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead software engineering, development standards, quality assurance and release management.
  • Define and evolve the application architecture and technical strategy.
  • Lead the modernisation of a legacy  and SQL estate, alongside the wider .NET and Azure platform.
  • Drive the transition towards a modern React-based UI and contemporary application architecture.
  • Translate product requirements into robust, scalable technology solutions.
  • Establish development governance, coding standards and engineering best practice.
  • Lead buy-vs-build decisions in partnership with Product.
  • Own the integration strategy across core platforms, third-party suppliers and internal systems.
  • Ensure platforms are scalable, reliable, maintainable and secure by design.
  • Manage technical debt and drive investment in platform sustainability.
  • Support AI, automation and digital transformation initiatives through strong technical leadership.
  • Develop and mentor high-performing engineering and technical teams.
  • Manage technology suppliers and implementation partners where required.
What You'll Bring

We're looking for a credible senior technology leader with strong software engineering and architecture experience who can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery.

  • Depth of experience across technology leadership, software engineering or architecture.
  • Proven experience leading software engineering and development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of .NET, Azure, SQL and modern software development practices.
  • Experience modernising legacy  applications and technology estates.
  • Experience with React or modern frontend technologies and evolving application architectures.
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops, CI/CD and modern delivery methodologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Financial services experience would be highly desirable.

This is a chance to shape the engineering and technology direction of an established financial services organisation, leading the modernisation of a legacy technology estate while building the engineering capability needed to support continued growth, innovation and AI-enabled transformation.
