Full Stack Developer

In this hands-on role, you will take ownership of designing, building and enhancing reusable full stack components, services and APIs used across multiple digital services. Working across Java, Angular and associated technologies, you'll turn architectural direction and business requirements into secure, accessible and production-ready solutions, while improving the integration and onboarding experience for consuming teams. You'll work collaboratively across CGI, client and supplier teams, bringing your ideas to technical design and solving complex delivery challenges.

Supported by a multidisciplinary engineering community, you'll balance rapid delivery with long-term maintainability, mentor colleagues and continuously improve engineering practices, automation and service resilience.

• Design & Develop:
  Build reusable front-end and back-end components, RESTful APIs, microservices and integrations using Java, Angular, Node.js and Express.js.
• Enable & Simplify:
  Improve shared components, documentation, reference implementations and tooling to accelerate service onboarding and reduce duplication.
• Engineer & Assure:
  Apply test-driven development and automated unit, integration, contract and end-to-end testing to deliver secure, maintainable software.
• Automate & Deploy:
  Develop CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and deployment automation, supporting containerised services across Azure and Kubernetes.
• Optimise & Operate:
  Use monitoring, logs, metrics and traces to diagnose issues and improve performance, resilience and service operability.
• Collaborate & Influence:
  Work with Technical Leads, Architects, Product, Delivery, QA, Dev Ops and other suppliers to manage dependencies and deliver successful outcomes.
• Innovate & Improve:
  Use CGI-approved AI-assisted development tools where appropriate to enhance coding, testing, documentation and troubleshooting, with appropriate human oversight.
• Own & Resolve:
  Identify technical blockers and risks early, recommend pragmatic solutions and drive issues through to resolution.
• Guide & Support:
  Mentor developers, contribute to code reviews and technical discussions, and share reusable approaches across the engineering community.
• You'll be an experienced hands‑on Full Stack Developer with strong Java and Angular skills and a track record of delivering production‑quality solutions within complex environments. You should be comfortable working across application development, APIs, cloud platforms, automated delivery and live‑service support, while communicating technical decisions and trade‑offs clearly across multidisciplinary teams.
• Full stack engineering:
  Strong hands‑on software development experience, including Java, Angular, Node.js and Express.js.
• Distributed architecture:
  Proven experience developing microservices, RESTful APIs, integrations and distributed systems.
• Data:
  Experience working with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Azure & Kubernetes:
  Experience with Azure cloud technologies, ideally including AKS, Azure Service Bus and Application Insights.
• Dev Ops & automation:
  Strong experience with CI/CD and tools such as Git, Jenkins and Terraform.
• Engineering quality:
  Demonstrable experience of automated testing, secure development and building maintainable, production‑quality software.
• Technical ownership:
  Proven ability to translate architecture and requirements into practical solutions and make pragmatic engineering decisions.
• Collaborative delivery:
  Ability to operate effectively across multidisciplinary and multi‑supplier teams while communicating risks, dependencies and trade‑offs clearly.
• AI-assisted engineering - desirable:
  Experience using tools such as Codex or Git Hub Copilot to improve software engineering productivity and quality.
