Role Opportunity
I'm currently working with a leading public sector technology consultancy delivering digital, data and technology projects across government.
They're looking for a Python Engineer / Data Engineer to join their growing team in London. This is a hands‑on engineering role that would suit a strong Python / Backend Engineer with an interest in data engineering and cloud technologies.
You'll work on modern data platforms and services, developing Python-based solutions while gaining exposure to data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
- Develop and maintain robust Python-based applications, services and data solutions.
- Build and support data pipelines, ETL/ELT and data transformation processes.
- Work with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Apply software engineering practices including Git, testing and CI/CD.
- Support cloud infrastructure and automation using Terraform / IaC.
- Work with databases and SQL.
- Support data quality, cleansing and standardisation.
- Collaborate with engineers, data specialists and client stakeholders.
- Work within Agile, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Python – strong hands‑on development experience
- Cloud – AWS, Azure or GCP
- Git – version control
- CI/CD – understanding of modern software delivery
- SQL – basic commercial experience
- Data Engineering – ETL/ELT, data pipelines and transformation
- Testing – unit, integration and data quality testing
- IaC / Terraform – awareness or practical experience
- SC Clearance – active clearance required to start
- Docker
- Airflow / AWS Glue
- Pandas
- Data Lakes / Data Warehouses
- Public sector or consultancy experience
- Agile delivery experience
- Experience working alongside data science / ML teams
