Location: City Of London
Delivery and collection of plant machinery, powered access hire equipment, lifting equipment, to customers in a safe, professional, and timely manner. You will be working in a safety critical role and be responsible for delivering to a schedule and working to timescales. You will be required to maintain good care of your vehicle, ensure all loads are secured, perform daily safety checks, and keep transport documents and the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) updated.
- Operating commercial vehicles up to 3.5T
- Driving long and short distances.
- Planning delivery schedules and routes with transport team.
- Making sure loads are safely secured in line with the Safe system of work.
- Completing delivery paperwork and/ or PDA updates
- Deliver the customer’s order in a timely and safe manner with respect for the customer’s property.
- Handle any issues raised at the point of delivery calmly, effectively, and professionally.
- Always conduct yourself in a professional manner.
- Ensure the vehicle is kept in a clean and tidy condition.
- Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the highway code and driver hours limits.
- Ensure the vehicle is not subject to unnecessary damage.
- Carry out daily checks and report any defects to the responsible person in the correct manner.
- Continually monitor vehicles for mechanical and safety issues and complete defect reports where required.
- Ensure accidents and incidents are kept to a minimum and are reported in accordance with the company’s procedures.
- Report any changes to your driving license including endorsements or disqualifications.
- PPE guidance always followed
- Hold a Full UK Driving license.
- Full induction will be provided upon the start of employment.
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Calm and professional always.
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Drive vehicles in a safe, considerate and professional manner.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Familiar with GPS Navigation, mapping, and route planning.
- Ability to carry out basic tasks on a computer or handheld device.
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to operate plant equipment (training will be provided)
- Behaves respectfully to everyone and treats people appropriately.
- Actively promotes and demonstrates health and safety.
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Driving company vehicle safely, considerately, and professionally.
- Meeting expected delivery timescales
- Vehicle loaded/unloaded safely at the start and end of the day.
- Vehicle kept clean and tidy.
- No traffic offences or license endorsements/disqualifications.
