Commercial Operations & Logistics Manager

We are seeking a highly capable Commercial Operations & Logistics Manager to lead and optimise our UK commercial operations, transportation and logistics activities. In this key role, you will ensure the efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective movement of inbound and outbound materials across multiple trading projects and operating sites. You will work closely with Commercial Managers, Plant Managers, and logistics partners to maximise revenue, ensure contract compliance, and enhance our overall commercial and operational performance.

This is a strategic, fast‑paced position at the centre of our UK trading activities, a great opportunity for someone with strong commercial acumen and deep logistics expertise.

What do we expect from you?

You will be a strong communicator, strategic thinker, and proactive problem solver. You’ll bring experience in UK commercial operations, logistics, or supply chain management, with a focus on optimising performance and delivering results. Key skills and experience include:

  • Experience in logistics, commercial operations, or supply chain management within the UK.
  • Strong understanding of UK waste management and transportation legislation.
  • Proven ability to lead teams using KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in reporting, forecasting, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee accurate, timely, and compliant execution of commercial operations across UK trading projects.
  • Manage the full order‑to‑delivery cycle to ensure contractual tonnages and KPIs are met.
  • Lead and optimise all inbound/outbound transport activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and service reliability.
  • Build strong collaboration with Commercial and Plant Managers to improve material flows and delivery patterns.
  • Identify new commercial opportunities to grow trading volumes and improve service performance.
  • Manage logistics partners, hauliers, and suppliers, negotiating competitive rates and ensuring service quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance operational performance.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, logistical, and commercial risks, ensuring compliance with UK transport legislation and internal policies.
