POSITION: Drama Assistant/Musical
BUILDING: Scenic Middle School
PAY RATE: $738.68 - $2462.26, depending upon approved previous experience
POSITION DUTIES:
- Evaluate student vocal and instrumental talent during auditions to assist with casting and pit band placement.
- Run regular vocal rehearsals with the cast and separate instrumental rehearsals with the student pit band.
- Instruct students on vocal techniques, sight-reading, rhythm, and basic music theory concepts required for the score.
- Combine the student pit band and the onstage cast during technical and dress rehearsals to balance sound levels.
- Direct and cue the student pit band from the keyboard during all live show runs.
- Work closely with the Director and Choreographer to align musical pacing with acting and dance numbers.
- Simplify or transpose complex musical arrangements to match the skill levels and vocal ranges of high school students.
