As an armed agent with full police powers, you will serve as Docksite shift supervisor at the Elgin Riverboat, planning, assigning, supervising and reviewing the activities of an assigned staff of Revenue and State Police Agents/Troopers. You will be responsible for enforcing the Riverboat Gambling Act and associated administrative rules, providing guidance, resolving investigative problems, and training subordinates.
Description Of Duties / Essential FunctionsSubject to management approval, you will:
- Plan, assign, supervise and review the activities of a staff of law enforcement agents engaged in observing, monitoring and inspecting riverboat casino gaming activities.
- Coordinate investigations of gambling tax evasion, fraud, and major incidents, including unannounced observations of drop and count procedures.
- Review Agency Activity Reports weekly and compile comprehensive reports.
- Train, evaluate, and resolve first‑level grievances of subordinate agents.
- Confer with casino shift managers on matters pertinent to gaming operations.
- Equivalency to four years of college with major coursework in law enforcement and business administration.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional peace officer experience in criminal gaming board investigation, gambling tax evasion, and gambling tax fraud investigations.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Annual completion of firearms qualification course.
- Working knowledge of gaming tax laws, rules, and regulations.
- Working knowledge of laws of arrest, search and seizure, and service of legal process.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk extensively, lift and reach above shoulder level, and willingness to travel.
- Graduation from an accredited state police academy (required for this level).
