About Us
Centralia College is on a 30-acre campus of modern buildings set among walking paths, lawns, and native plantings just a few blocks from the heart of Centralia, Washington. The college has served students in the Lewis County region since 1925 and is the oldest continuously operating community college in Washington State. The city of Centralia is a historic railroad and river shipping hub with a vibrant downtown and railway station.
As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, English as a Second Language (ESL), and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees.
In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Job Description
Centralia College is creating a pool of qualified applicants to teach transfer level anatomy and physiology courses to freshmen and sophomores on a part-time basis. The college's need for part-time instructors varies from quarter to quarter.
The college offers both on-campus and online courses. An on-campus assignment requires face-to-face instruction two to four days a week, Monday through Thursday, in Centralia, WA. Online assignments are typically taught asynchronously, and the college uses the Canvas learning management system. Additional in-person opportunities may be available at the college's satellite campus in Morton, WA, or within correctional and juvenile detention facilities in our area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Anatomy and Physiology instructors teach both lectures and labs. The current need is for
- Create and deliver teaching materials that align with the course curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Place student success at the center of their courses.
- Engage with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to create a community of learners.
- Seek opportunities for teaching and learning excellence.
- Master's or higher degree in Anatomy and/or Physiology or closely related field
- Teaching experience in delivering lecture and lab in A&P or closely related course; community college level preferred.
- Ability to safely work with, demonstrate, and instruct students in the use of laboratory tools and equipment commonly used in biology (i.e. microscope, dissection).
- Ability to adapt teaching to various student learning styles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous college-level teaching experience
- Previous curriculum development experience
- Familiarity with Learning Management System (Canvas)
