Responsibilities
Debtors
- Capture and post customer invoices, credit notes and receipts in the accounting system.
- Apply and allocate payments; follow up on unapplied or unidentified receipts.
- Reconcile customer accounts and the debtors control account.
- Generate and dispatch statements.
- Assist with debt collection activities and elevate overdue accounts per company policy.
Creditors
- Process supplier invoices, credit notes and adjustments.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and goods received documentation where applicable.
- Prepare payment batches for approval and assist with electronic or manual payments.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor and investigate outstanding supplier balances and follow up on aged creditors.
- Maintain supplier master data and manage supplier queries.
- Liaise with procurement to resolve invoice/payment issues.
General finance tasks
- Assist with month-end cutoffs, journals and reconciliations.
- Maintain filing (electronic) and ensure documentation supports audit requirements.
- Support VAT input/output schedules and provide documentation for tax/audit requests.
- Provide ad hoc reports and support to senior finance staff.
Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate.
- National Certificate or Diploma in Financial Management, Bookkeeping, Accounting (e.g., NQF Level 4–5) or equivalent preferred.
- Certification in basic bookkeeping (e.g., IFRS basics) advantageous.
Experience
- 2 years relevant experience in debtors & creditors or bookkeeping role; internships or workplace experience acceptable.
- Exposure to accounting software (e.g., Sage, Pastel, Quick Books, Xero) and MS Excel.
- Three-month fixed-term contract to assist with a temporary increase in work volume.
- Competitive monthly cost to company between R 10,000 and R 14,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
