Construction Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Construction Safety Officer to join their team in Centurion . This critical role ensures that all construction sites adhere to the highest safety standards and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive health and safety programs to prevent accidents and injuries. This position requires a strong understanding of safety legislation, risk assessment, and the ability to foster a strong safety culture among all site personnel.

You will be a key advocate for workplace safety, contributing significantly to a secure and healthy working environment.

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific health and safety plans in accordance with relevant legislation and company policies.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel, including employees and subcontractors.
• Maintain all safety documentation, records, and compliance registers as required by regulatory bodies.
• Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication, engagement, and visible leadership on site.

• Relevant qualification or certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NOSA, SAMTRAC).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and other relevant safety regulations.
• Strong risk assessment and hazard identification skills.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and training skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with site teams and management.
