We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of Energy Solutions to lead an Energy Solutions Business Unit. This is a senior leadership role that combines technical expertise with strategic oversight, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of electrical and energy solutions.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the energy strategy, driving efficiency initiatives, and managing complex projects across multiple properties.
Business Unit Mandate
The Energy Solutions Business Unit is responsible for:
- Electrical installations and maintenance within a property management environment
- Energy management and efficiency initiatives across all buildings
- Providing solar, generator, UPS, and related solutions to properties and tenants
This division ensures sustainability, reliability, and innovation throughout operations.
Strategic Partnership
The Head of Energy Solutions will work closely with a development-focused partner business. Together, the aim is to create seamless integration of electrical and energy solutions throughout the property lifecycle — from design and construction to ongoing maintenance and optimisation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning & Design: Interpret blueprints, develop electrical plans, estimate costs, and manage timelines.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with NEC/SANS codes.
- Project Management: Coordinate trades, manage procurement, inventory, and vendor relationships.
- Installation: Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose and repair MV/LV systems, motors, and controls; perform preventative maintenance.
- Leadership & Training: Mentor junior electricians, enforce best practices, and foster a culture of safety and quality.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Wiremans Licence / Master Electrician (mandatory).
- Extensive experience with generators, MV/LV fault finding, reticulation, and MV switching (advantageous).
- Strong electrical problem-solving and managerial skills.
- Expertise in tendering, costing, and procurement processes.
- Utilities experience and excellent interpersonal skills.
