GIS Technology Specialist

Location: Centurion
Purpose: Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance geospatial capabilities for agricultural, commercial, and environmental projects. Responsibilities include spatial data analysis, mapping, predictive modeling, remote sensing, and developing GIS tools and platforms.

• Manage enterprise spatial data and infrastructure.
• Perform advanced GIS analysis and predictive modeling.
• Produce maps, cartography, and visualizations.
• Develop automation scripts and GIS tools.
• Apply remote sensing and imagery analytics.
• Lead projects and engage stakeholders.

• Education: Bachelors or Honours degree in GIS, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, or related fields.
• Certifications: Mandatory registration with South African Geomatics Council (SAGC); additional certifications in Remote Sensing, Cloud GIS, or Programming are advantageous.

• 5-7 years in professional GIS roles, preferably in agriculture, environment, or natural resources.
• Expertise in enterprise GIS systems, remote sensing (LiDAR, UAV), and large raster datasets.
• Proven ability to deliver Web GIS, dashboards, and production-ready applications.

• Advanced proficiency in QGIS and ESRI ArcGIS (Desktop, Pro, Enterprise).
• Geospatial database design (PostGIS, ArcSDE) and SDI principles.
• Strong skills in Python (Arc Py, PyQGIS), R, SQL, and automation.
• Experience with cloud GIS platforms (Google Earth Engine, AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of map algebra, geostatistics, and machine learning for geospatial applications.
