Job Description

As a Engineer - Structural (Dams & Hydropower) team you will provide support to a variety of dam safety engineering projects, primarily in the United States, but not exclusively. The role require proficiency in reviewing pertinent dam information (geotechnical, hydraulic/hydrologic, structural, and construction), performing structural calculations and analyses, and developing design and analysis reports under the supervision of an experienced dam engineer.

Key responsibilities

Provide technical support to dam project managers, including design, analysis, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of dams.

Perform dam analysis and design such as structural stability and strength analysis of concrete dams and appurtenant structures (spillways, outlet works, and other site civil structures).

Perform detail checks and quality reviews of other engineer's work.

Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects.

Prepare structural drawings and visual aids through coordination with the CAD team.

Communicate with multi-disciplinary teams on various projects related to dams and other hydraulic structures.

Show a desire to progress toward greater responsibility, including task leadership.

Minimum requirements

Previous experience with dams, levees, or water retaining structures

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility

Resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to detail

Strong desire to learn along with professional drive

Experience with related software such as AutoCAD, Mathcad, and commercially available structural analysis software (STADD Pro, SAP
2000, Ansys, etc.)

Qualifications

BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering

Master's degree in civil engineering, with focus on Structural Engineering - advantageous.

4-8 years' experience, with a minimum 4 years of relevant Structural Engineering experience

Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA or working towards registration.
