We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Solar Design Engineer to join our renewable energy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of solar PV systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects. The role involves working closely with project managers, installation teams, and clients to deliver efficient, compliant, and cost-effective solar energy solutions.

• Design grid-tied, hybrid, and off-grid solar PV systems.
• Prepare system layouts, single-line diagrams, and electrical drawings.
• Conduct site assessments and energy yield calculations.
• Perform PV system sizing, cable sizing, and inverter selection.
• Develop bill of quantities (BOQs), technical proposals, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards and regulations.
• Support procurement and project execution teams during implementation.
• Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting activities where required.
• Optimize system performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

• Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Engineering.
• 2‑5 years’ experience in solar PV design and engineering.
• Proficiency in solar design software such as:
  • PVSyst
  • Helioscope
  • AutoCADPVSol
• Strong understanding of:
  • Solar PV systems
  • Inverters and battery storage
  • LV electrical systems
  • Protection and earthing
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Good understanding of South African electrical standards and regulations.
