The Opportunity

Mventech Group is seeking an experienced Study Manager reporting to our head of Technical Studies to lead and take technical ownership of mining studies across the full study continuum, from scoping and pre-feasibility through to definitive feasibility. In this role, you will be the accountable technical authority for study quality, discipline integration, and investment-grade deliverables, working directly with clients to translate project objectives into rigorous, decision-ready outputs.

This is a senior, high-visibility position for a mining professional who commands respect across engineering disciplines and brings both the technical depth and the leadership presence to drive a study programme to a successful conclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical interface with the client, providing authoritative guidance, managing expectations, and presenting study findings and recommendations at executive level.
  • Lead multidisciplinary study teams comprising internal professionals, specialist consultants, and sub-consultants, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
  • Oversee the development and validation of capital cost estimates, operating cost models, and financial analyses, ensuring accuracy and credibility for investment decision-making.
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical risks throughout the study lifecycle, ensuring that risk registers and mitigation plans are maintained and communicated to all relevant parties.
  • Ensure that all studies comply with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and client governance frameworks, including environmental and social baseline obligations.
  • Champion study quality assurance, conducting and facilitating peer reviews, value engineering workshops, and constructability assessments at appropriate study gates.
  • Contribute to business development by supporting proposal preparation, scope definition, and fee estimation for new study opportunities within the mining sector.
You must have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in the mining industry, with at least five years in a study management, technical leadership, or principal engineering role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or making a leading technical contribution to mining studies, across at least two of the three study levels: scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of mining study methodologies, capital and operating cost estimation, and the investment decision-making process.
It would advantage you to have:
