Job DescriptionAs a Engineer
- Structural (Dams & Hydropower) team you will provide support to a variety of dam safety engineering projects, primarily in the United States, but not exclusively. The role requires proficiency in reviewing pertinent dam information (geotechnical, hydraulic/hydrologic, structural, and construction), performing structural calculations and analyses, and developing design and analysis reports under the supervision of an experienced dam engineer.
- Provide technical support to dam project managers, including design, analysis, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of dams.
- Perform dam analysis and design such as structural stability and strength analysis of concrete dams and appurtenant structures (spillways, outlet works, and other site civil structures).
- Perform detail checks and quality reviews of other engineer's work.
- Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects.
- Prepare structural drawings and visual aids through coordination with the CAD team.
- Communicate with multi-disciplinary teams on various projects related to dams and other hydraulic structures.
- Show a desire to progress toward greater responsibility, including task leadership.
- Previous experience with dams, levees, or water retaining structures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility
- Resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to detail
- Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
- Experience with related software such as AutoCAD, Mathcad, and commercially available structural analysis software (STADD Pro, SAP
2000, Ansys, etc.)
- BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
- Master's degree in civil engineering, with focus on Structural Engineering - advantageous.
- 4-8 years' experience, with a minimum 4 years of relevant Structural Engineering experience
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA or working towards registration.
