Mventech Group is seeking a registered Professional Engineer to lead its Civil and Structural discipline across a portfolio of mining and minerals processing infrastructure projects. This is a senior technical leadership role with equal accountability for engineering excellence and team performance. The successful candidate will own the civil and structural scope from concept and feasibility through to construction support, drive client engagement, and take direct responsibility for developing the engineers in their team.

• Lead and manage the Civil and Structural team, including resourcing, hour allocation, training and development, and performance, while supporting the Technical Business Lead in the strategic alignment of the discipline with broader business objectives.
• Own the full civil and structural scope across concurrent projects, taking accountability for the technical quality, code compliance, and timely delivery of all discipline outputs from study through to construction completion.
• Design and analyse mining-related civil and structural infrastructure, including shafts, headgear structures, conveyor gantries, processing plants, heavy civil surface structures, steel structures, dams, and foundations.
• Prepare, review, and sign off on engineering deliverables as Engineer of Record, including design criteria documents, structural calculations, specifications, models, drawings, bills of quantities, and technical reports.
• Interface directly with clients to present designs, drive engineering decisions, and maintain confidence in Mventech’s technical delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage engineering interfaces across disciplines, coordinating with mining, process, mechanical, electrical, and project management teams to ensure civil and structural designs are fully integrated with overall project objectives.
• Provide construction-phase technical support, including review and approval of contractor submissions, resolution of technical queries, site inspection, quality assurance, and risk register maintenance.
• Conduct site investigations, interpret geotechnical data, and develop scopes of work for specialist studies; liaise with external consultants on design scope, quality, progress, and modifications.
• Contribute to capital cost estimates, man-hour budgets, and project schedules; monitor scope changes and provide timely feedback to the Project Engineering Lead on budget and schedule impacts.
• Support tender processes by attending briefings, contributing to technical documentation, and assisting with pricing; develop and maintain internal engineering guidelines and standards.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate civil and structural engineers through structured technical reviews, feedback, and knowledge transfer activities that build lasting discipline capability.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or BSc Eng, NQF
  8).
• Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• A minimum of eight years’ post-graduate experience in civil and structural engineering, with a demonstrable focus on mining or heavy industrial infrastructure.
• Proven experience leading civil and structural scopes within a consulting or EPCM environment across both study and construction-phase project settings.
