About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Metallurgist specializing in mineral processing to join their processing plant in Centurion . This role is vital for optimizing the extraction and recovery of valuable minerals from ore. You will be responsible for process development, troubleshooting, and ensuring the efficient operation of flotation, leaching, and other mineral processing circuits. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical background combined with practical experience in mineral processing, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to analyze complex process data to drive efficiency and yield.
This position is key to maximizing the value derived from the mined ore.
- Oversee and optimize mineral processing circuits (e.g., crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching).
- Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new processes and improve existing ones.
- Analyze plant operational data to identify opportunities for improving recovery, grade, and throughput.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures for process monitoring and product analysis.
- Collaborate with mine operations and engineering teams to ensure effective integration of processing activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing operations or research.
- Proven experience with flotation , cyanidation , or other relevant mineral extraction techniques.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in process data analysis and interpretation.
- Knowledge of mineral processing equipment and its operational parameters.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
