About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Process Safety Engineer to join their team, supporting operations from Centurion . This role is vital for ensuring the safety and integrity of chemical processes within their facilities, focusing on risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and regulatory compliance. You will play a key part in maintaining a robust safety culture and preventing incidents through rigorous application of process safety principles.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering and a passion for safety management within the demanding Oil & Gas and chemical processing industries .
- Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop, implement, and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international safety regulations and industry standards.
- Oversee mechanical integrity programs for critical process equipment and safety systems.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to operational and engineering staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering , preferably within the Oil & Gas or chemical manufacturing sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, hazard identification techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and emergency relief systems design.
- Strong understanding of relevant safety codes and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, API, NFPA).
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
