Process Safety Engineer - Chemical Industry

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety standards and compliance within their chemical operations in Centurion . This critical role involves the development, implementation, and management of robust process safety programs to mitigate risks associated with hazardous materials and processes. You will be a key contributor to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and protecting the surrounding community and environment.

The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of safety regulations and a proactive approach to risk management.

• Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to relevant personnel.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for all modifications to chemical processes and equipment.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA PSM or similar regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience facilitating and documenting PHAs.
• Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CCPSC is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of mechanical integrity, emergency response, and loss prevention principles.
