Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly qualified Senior Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and risk management across their operations based in Centurion . This critical role ensures that all chemical processes and facilities meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. You will lead initiatives to identify, assess, and mitigate potential hazards, fostering a robust safety culture throughout the organization.

• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses for safety-related events.
• Ensure compliance with local and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Provide technical expertise and training on process safety to engineers and operational staff.
• Review engineering designs and P&IDs for safety implications before construction or modification.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience focused on process safety in the chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety instrumentation systems (SIS).
• Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Experience with safety software tools for consequence modeling and risk assessment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
