Our client is seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer with a specialization in safety and compliance to join their established operations in Centurion. This critical role ensures that all chemical processes and facilities adhere to stringent national and international safety, health, and environmental regulations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring a secure working environment for all personnel.
This position requires a meticulous individual with a deep understanding of chemical hazards and mitigation strategies, working closely with site management and regulatory bodies to uphold the highest safety standards in our chemical production facilities.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety management systems and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, including HAZOP studies, to identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) legislation and regulations.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide EHS training to employees and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- At least 4 years of experience in chemical process safety or EHS management.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical safety regulations and best practices.
- Experience with process hazard analysis (PHA) techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
