Control Systems Engineer

Our client, a prominent player in the automation and industrial control sector, is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Control Systems Engineer to join their operations in Centurion, Gauteng. This is an on-site position requiring full engagement within their advanced engineering facilities. You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of sophisticated control systems for a variety of industrial applications.

• Design and implement PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial automation projects.
• Develop and debug control system software using various programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram).
• Configure and commission industrial communication networks (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
• Perform system integration, testing, and validation to ensure performance and reliability.
• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for control systems during commissioning and operation.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to define system requirements and specifications.
• Develop comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and test reports.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in control system technology and automation trends.
• Conduct training for clients and end-users on the operation and maintenance of control systems.
• Contribute to project planning, resource estimation, and risk assessment.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
• Proficiency in programming and configuring major PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens S7, Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley).
• Experience with SCADA software (e.g., WinCC, Factory Talk View) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation principles, motor control, and process instrumentation.
• Knowledge of industrial networking protocols and cybersecurity best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to travel occasionally for project commissioning and support.
• Experience with robotics or motion control is a plus.
