Specialist: Financial Reporting & Tax

Job Overview

To ensure that DTFS accounting records are in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Ensuring accuracy, validity and completeness assertions are maintained in the aforementioned tasks. All tasks are in line with Daimler Truck policies, procedures and guidelines. Internal controls measures are in place to ensure risk of misstatement and fraud are minimized.

Technical Accounting

• Ensuring that accounting records are in line with IFRS.
• Staying up to date with IFRS amendments/changes.
• Provide support and training to accounting team members after implementing new standards.
• Preparation of technical accounting papers for review by the accounting manager.
• To maintain documentation on unique accounting transactions.
• To serve as a technical expert and resource to the business.
• To drive continuous improvement of accounting policies and procedures.
• Posting of journal transactions in SAP in line with Daimler 4EP.
• Preparation of Annual Financial Statements.

Taxation

• Preparation & submission of all statutory VAT, provisional tax & income tax returns to SARS.
• Assistance and execution of any ad hoc tasks required from time to time with regards to accounting and taxes.
• Dealing with all SARS correspondence and queries, including the obtaining of relevant tax clearance certificates.
• Keep up to date with latest tax regulations and practices.

Portfolio reconciliations & Manufacturing Leases

• Performing reconciliations of the Portfolio on a monthly basis.
• Reconciling manufacturing leases with the industrial partner.
• Ensuring manufacturing leases are accurately booked on a monthly basis.

Posting book monitoring/corrections & General Ledger Maintenance

• Monitor the CMS accounting posting book for any errors or changes required.
• Ensuring that any required changes to the posting book are timeously amended in CMS by IT.
• Maintaining the structure of the General Ledger including identifying new accounts required and accounts which can be removed.
• Ensuring correct allocations in the General Ledger in line with IFRS.
• Ensuring that necessary clearings in accounts are maintained.

• Daily cash management review.
• Internal control assessment cycle management.
• Finance related B-BBEE tasks.
• Other ad-hoc daily/monthly finance related tasks.

• 3 to 5 years’ experience in Accounting
