Financial Operations Specialist

Role Summary

The purpose of this position is to manage financial aspects relating to supplier management by ensuring that supplier costs are managed effectively, financial risks are mitigated, supporting documents are captured on the database management system and supplier financial reports are compiled accurately.

• Verify that goods and services billed to Metro Fibre have been received and accurately invoiced.
• Reconcile purchase orders, supplier invoices, and system records to ensure alignment and prevent erroneous payments.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and update disputed items on the system.
• Review quotes, invoices, and purchase orders to validate monthly recurring and non-recurring costs.
• Provide the Accounts Payable team with clear guidance on approved and disputed invoices to minimize financial risk.
• Compile accurate supplier-related financial reports within agreed timelines and analyze cost anomalies, reporting findings to management.
• Raise accruals for incurred expenses where invoices have not yet been received.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records on the database, including contract onboardings, amendments, cancellations, and penalties.

• Matric / Grade 12
• National Diploma in Financial Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an operational department in a telecommunications or fibre work environment.
