Project Finance Controller

We are seeking an experienced Project Finance Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project budgets, monitoring financial performance, validating costs and revenue, and producing management reports. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. REQUIREMENTS Minimum education (essential):
Diploma in Financial Management, Accounting, or related field
Minimum applicable experience (years): 3–7 years
Required nature of experience:

• Project budgeting and forecasting
• Cost control and variance analysis
• Revenue recognition and billing
• Project accounting and reporting
• Exposure to contract-based projects
• Experience in engineering or manufacturing environments (advantageous)

Skills and Knowledge (essential):

• Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
• Advanced MS Excel (dashboards, forecasting, models)
• Understanding of IFRS and financial governance
• Ability to interpret contracts and financial terms
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Computer

Skills:

• MS Excel (Advanced)
• MS Word and Power Point
• ERP systems (Dynamics NAV or similar)
• BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

Other:

• Based in or willing to commute to Centurion
• Willingness to travel when required
• Fluent in English (Afrikaans advantageous)
• High level of integrity and professionalism

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS, WEIGHTS AND OBJECTIVES Project Financial Setup & Control (20%)

• Establish and maintain project budgets, cost centres, and billing structures
• Ensure alignment with accounting standards and governance requirements

Financial Tracking & Reporting (25%)

• Monitor project performance against budgets and forecasts
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports and dashboards
• Provide variance and risk analysis to management

Cost Validation & Revenue Management (20%)

• Validate supplier invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor claims
• Manage customer billing in line with contractual requirements
• Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition

Project Close-Out & Audit Support (15%)

• Manage financial close-out and reconciliation processes
• Document cost variances and lessons learned
• Support internal and external audits

Process Improvement & Governance (10%)

• Recommend and implement improvements to systems and reporting
• Support strengthening of financial controls and compliance

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication (10%)

• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Finance teams
• Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
