About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and astute Lead Credit Analyst to manage and direct the credit assessment functions within their bustling Centurion office. This role is critical in evaluating the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and clients, mitigating risk, and ensuring the financial health of the institution's loan portfolio. The successful candidate will lead a team of analysts, set departmental standards, and provide expert insights into credit risk management.
You will play a key part in shaping lending strategies and ensuring robust risk frameworks are maintained within the Gauteng region's vibrant business community.
- Lead and mentor a team of credit analysts, overseeing daily operations and workflow.
- Conduct thorough credit analysis of complex commercial loan applications, assessing financial statements, cash flows, and collateral.
- Develop and recommend appropriate credit structures, terms, and covenants.
- Monitor existing loan portfolios for potential risks and compliance issues.
- Prepare detailed credit memorandums and present recommendations to the credit committee.
- Stay updated on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory requirements affecting credit risk.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit analysis, lending, or risk management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- In-depth knowledge of financial statement analysis, cash flow projection, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience with various loan types and industries.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
- Proficiency in credit analysis software and Microsoft Excel.
