Oncology Care Coordination Team Leader
Location: Centurion, Gauteng
PositionPurpose:
As the Oncology Care Coordination Team Leader, you will lead a dedicated team of clinical coordinators who support beneficiaries throughout their oncology journey, from diagnosis to treatment, recovery, and survivorship. You will play a key role in overseeing case management processes, improving patient navigation, managing clinical and financial risk, and strengthening collaboration between beneficiaries, oncology specialists, and internal teams.
Experience &Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (3- or 4‑year qualification) OR health sciences degree — mandatory
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in:
- Oncology clinical management
- Managed care and health risk management
- Clinical customer service within the medical scheme or healthcare industry
- Previous experience managing or supervising a clinical team (advantageous)
- Strong understanding of oncology treatment protocols, staging, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and palliative care.
- Lead and mentor an oncology care coordination team to ensure delivery of exceptional service
- Oversee oncology case assessments, treatment plan reviews, risk stratification, and patient follow‑ups
- Analyse oncology programme data and prepare operational and clinical reports
- Ensure compliance with oncology clinical guidelines, scheme rules, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with oncologists, radiologists, oncology centres, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support beneficiaries by providing clear guidance, treatment navigation, and psychosocial sensitivity
- Improve operational workflows and contribute to updates of oncology SOPs and care processes
- Drive team performance, engagement, and professional development
- Resolve escalations and ensure high‑quality stakeholder and patient experiences.
- Strong clinical judgement and oncology‑specific risk assessment skills
- Analytical and data‑interpretation ability
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to build relationships with providers, oncology centres, and internal teams
- Computer literacy and comfort using clinical and administrative systems
- Leadership skills with a coaching mindset and a commitment to staff development
- Empathy, patient‑centred communication, and resilience
