Data Engineer (Senior) About the roleWe are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (Azure Data & Microsoft Fabric) to join our agile delivery team in Moyo Technology Solutions
, supporting multiple Ketendo client projects in parallel.
This is a hands‑on engineering role requiring strong capability in building pipelines, data models, and integrations across real‑world business systems. The successful candidate must be comfortable working across multiple clients, managing shifting priorities, and delivering consistently in a sprint‑based environment.
This role will work closely with the Technical Lead as part of succession planning, helping reduce key‑person dependency and strengthening overall delivery resilience.
Primary duties & responsibilities- Build and maintain data pipelines and transformation processes across Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
- Implement Fabric solutions including Lakehouse/Warehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and related ingestion patterns.
- Work across multiple client projects and assist with urgent delivery priorities when required.
- Contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and delivery execution.
- Troubleshoot data issues, pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and integration errors.
- Support the Technical Lead with delivery execution and act as backup support where needed.
- Assist junior engineers by providing guidance, troubleshooting support, and best‑practice input.
- Contribute to reusable templates, automation, and standardised delivery frameworks.
A key component of this role is strong ability to integrate data across multiple systems and environments.
- Build ingestion processes integrating data from:
- Xero, Sage, SQL databases, ERP systems, flat files, and SaaS platforms
- Build and support REST API integrations (JSON‑based ingestion and transformation).
- Implement secure authentication patterns such as:
- OAuth2
- API keys
- service principals / managed identities
- Implement monitoring and troubleshooting processes for integration reliability.
- Handle real‑world integration issues such as schema drift, inconsistent source data, API limits, and data quality problems.
- Strong experience in Azure‑based data engineering.
- Experience with:
- Strong SQL skills and experience in data modelling.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT best practices.
- Solid understanding of security concepts including RBAC, managed identities, and secure credential handling.
- Good understanding of performance optimisation and scalable ingestion design.
- Dev Ops & Engineering Standards:
- Git version control
- CI/CD principles
- Deployment processes and release discipline
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code is advantageous.
- 7+ years’ experience in data engineering
- Degree in data or IT related field
- Microsoft Azure Data Engineer certification is advantageous.
- Fabric certifications are advantageous.
- Delivery‑focused and accountable.
- Proactive and willing to step in where needed.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and iterative scope definition.
- Strong team player — willing to assist others and contribute to overall success.
- Interested in growth into more leadership and ownership over time.
- Comfortable working in a sprint‑based agile delivery model.
- Able to deliver with evolving requirements and changing priorities.
- Strong ability to context‑switch between clients and projects.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage directly with clients when required.
