Senior Analyst Developer (Mid‑Senior Level)

Join the Payment Ecosystem Modernisation Programme (PEM) as a Senior Analyst Developer, supporting the optimisation and sustained operation of the SAMOS and SADC‑RTGS platforms. The role requires close collaboration with Business Analysts, architects, and stakeholders across the South African Reserve Bank’s business and technology divisions.

• Engage with business stakeholders to capture requirements, translate them into functional and technical specifications, and obtain sign‑off.
• Contribute to system architecture and design, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and security requirements.
• Develop, configure, and enhance application components in Java, C#, and related technologies, following coding standards and version control practices.
• Perform unit testing, peer reviews, and support integration and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Provide second‑ and third‑line application support, investigate production incidents, and manage system monitoring and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, user guides, and runbooks, and conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions with internal teams.

• Design, develop, test, and support national payments solutions and related web applications.
• Deliver high‑quality work leveraging Java and related technologies while avoiding complex customisation.
• Produce functional and technical specifications, design documentation, deployment documents, release notes, and change request records.
• Ensure timely delivery of IT solutions in compliance with governance frameworks and change‑control processes.
• Maintain system architecture documentation and operating manuals using standard templates.
• Support operational activities, including service‑level management and incident reporting, to achieve SLA targets.

• Eight (8) years of working experience as a senior developer or technical resource in a project and support environment.
• Mid‑Senior level experience with Java, C#, Spring Boot, JMS (IBM MQ), JDBC, JPA, and enterprise application development.
• Experience with Git Lab, CI/CD pipelines, and Angular application development.
• Familiarity with APM tools, microservices/REST API design, and Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of XML, XSL, XSD, Java EE (or Jakarta EE), and deployment management.
• Experience in payment systems (domestic and cross‑border) and ISO
  15022/ISO
  20022 messaging standards is an added advantage.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• Hands‑on experience in both development and support roles within a large enterprise environment.
