BI Developer; Finance MMH

Role Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and motivated BI Developer to join our Finance Automation, Data and BI Team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data analysis, a strong understanding of finance and business processes, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. The BI Developer role will address business queries through the effective and meaningful translation, collection and analysis of raw company data and communicate these results to enhance decision‑making.

The BI Developer will examine and evaluate reporting requirements for stakeholders across Momentum Investments, including Finance and Tax, and contribute to improving data quality, reporting consistency, automation and insight‑led decision‑making across the business.

  B.Sc. degree or other relevant qualification in computer science, data science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
• Proven experience as a BI developer, Business Analyst or Data Analyst in a BI or analytics‑focused role.
• Three years relevant experience required.
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
• Microsoft BI skills, particularly SSAS tabular model design and implementation, Reporting Services and Integration Services.
• Database design and warehousing.
• PowerBI.
• Proven experience using AI to work more effectively.
• Experience with finance, regulatory, or management reporting data will be advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to derive insights from complex datasets.
• Experience working in an Agile software development environment.

• Post‑graduate degree in a relevant field would be beneficial.
• Technical certifications in data and analytics.
• Experience with the Kimball Dimensional Methodology.
• Exposure to modern data, analytics and automation platforms, and an interest in continually improving how reporting and insight solutions are delivered.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and gather requirements for BI solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications for BI development.
• Design and create end‑to‑end Business Intelligence solutions from ETL, SSAS cubes to Microsoft Power BI or SSRS reports and dashboards.
• Proactively generate and compile reports based on findings, recommending improvements to or new requirements for business processes and reporting structures.
• Work with technology teams and business analysts to scope and prioritise development efforts for reporting across business units.
• Analyze reporting requirements, document desired solutions and provide recommendations, translating between business and technology.
• Ensure high quality through constant testing, reviews, performance optimisation of SQL code, ETL processes or solution design.
• Interact with existing reporting resources to maintain a single reporting strategy.
• Monitor SQL Server jobs and coordinate with database administrators to maintain reporting continuity.
• Participate in change processes to improve testing efficiency.
• Formalise communication to ensure reporting on deliverables.
• Ensure sign‑off on all reporting deliverables according to business specifications.
• Report and estimate development timelines.
• Maintain and provide operational support for existing dashboards and reports.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights that drive business decisions, understanding granular detail throughout the analysis and solution invention process.
• Perform ad‑hoc analysis to answer specific business questions and address stakeholder inquiries.
• Contribute to the automation and optimisation of finance and reporting processes by identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve control and enhance trusted data availability for decision‑making.
