Digital Forensic First Responder (Entry-Level)

Are you looking to break into digital forensics and cyber incident response? This is a genuine entry-level role — you'll work alongside experienced investigators on real cyber incidents, fraud cases, and digital crime scenes, and be trained on industry-standard tools from the ground up. No prior tool experience is required.
What You’ll Do- Support digital forensic incident response and investigation activities.
- Assist with evidence collection, preservation, and chain of custody.
- Conduct basic forensic analysis (logs, files, emails, user activity) under supervision.
- Learn to identify and elevate Indicators of Compromise (IOCs).
- Work with tools such as FTK Imager, Autopsy, Cellebrite, EnCase, and EDR platforms — full training provided, no prior experience with these tools required.
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation for legal and audit purposes.
- Matric / Grade 12, plus current studies or a completed qualification in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, IT, or a related field.
- 0–2 years' experience — recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of how computers, operating systems, and file systems work.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow structured procedures exactly.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication in English.
- Able to work on-site in Johannesburg — this role cannot be performed remotely.
- Valid passport or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe (required for potential site/client travel).
- Prior IT support, SOC, or general cybersecurity experience.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Exposure to evidence handling or forensic concepts.
- Entry-level certifications such as Security+ or CHFI.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Genuine eagerness to learn and follow structured processes.
- Calm, methodical approach under pressure.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- High integrity and respect for confidentiality.
- Full, structured training on industry-standard forensic tools and methodology.
- Hands-on experience supporting real-world cyber investigations from day one.
- Mentorship from experienced investigators.
- A genuine entry point into a digital forensics career, within a SANAS-accredited lab.
