Our client is looking for a Senior Analytical Engineer to design, develop, maintain and optimise scalable analytical data models and systems that support data-driven decision-making across the organisation. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics, transforming raw data into reliable, well-structured and performance-optimised datasets for reporting, business intelligence and advanced analytics.

You will work across data transformation, automation, data quality, governance, reporting and process optimisation while translating complex business requirements into structured and reusable data solutions. The role also provides acting Team Lead cover when required, with a clear opportunity to develop into a formal Team Lead position over time based on performance and business requirements.

Design, develop and maintain scalable analytical data models and systems.

Transform raw data into reliable, structured and performance-optimised datasets.

Develop and maintain data transformation logic and automated workflows.

Build reusable data solutions that support reporting, BI and advanced analytics.

Optimise SQL queries, processes and analytical data environments.

Develop automation solutions using SQL, Python and Power Automate.

Maintain and improve analytical processes and workflows.

Apply strong data quality, governance and security principles.

Translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions.

Support data warehousing and relational database design.

Develop and maintain advanced Power BI reporting solutions.

Follow SDLC and Agile methodologies across development activities.

Use Git workflows and repositories effectively.

Contribute to CI/CD practices and continuous improvement.

Maintain clear and accurate technical and process documentation.

Troubleshoot complex data and process issues and implement sustainable resolutions.

Ensure development and production processes follow appropriate technical best practices.

Provide acting Team Lead support when required.

Coach, mentor and support other team members.

Share technical knowledge and contribute to the growth of the wider team.

Work collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple concurrent initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve scalability, automation, efficiency and technical standards.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.

7+ years' relevant professional experience.

Advanced SQL capability, including dynamic queries, query performance and optimisation.

Advanced Python capability.

Practical automation experience using SQL, Python and Power Automate.

Strong process maintenance and process-management experience.

Experience with relational database design.

Experience with in a Microsoft Azure environment.

Advanced Power BI and reporting capability.

Knowledge of Agile methodologies.

Experience with SDLC methodologies.

Experience with data warehousing.

Understanding of security principles.

Experience using Git workflows and repositories.
