This position requires full-time presence at our Centurion, South Africa office.

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on International Trade & Logistics Specialist to take ownership of our global import and export activities. This role combines specialist international shipping knowledge with practical warehouse operations and requires someone who is equally comfortable interpretingcomplex import and export regulations, coordinating global shipments, resolvingunusual logistics challenges and personally preparing, packaging and dispatchinghigh-value electronic equipment.

The successful candidate will become the company's subject matter expert for international shipping and customs matters while remaining actively involved inthe day-to-day physical shipment of products. Requirements

Minimum education (essential): Grade 12
Desired qualifications (advantageous): Diploma in Logistics/Warehousing/Shipping would be advantageous
Applicable work experience: Minimum 5 to 8 years' experience in international import/export logistics, freight forwarding or global trade administration
Required nature of experience:

Experience with in a manufacturing, defence, aerospace, telecommunications or high technology environment where international shipping, customs compliance and export documentation formed a significant part of the role. Experience dealing with high value equipment, freight forwarders, customs brokers and changing international trade requirements would be highly advantageous
Computer literacy (essential): MS Office, Intermediate Excel
Computer literacy (suggested): Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Language proficiency: English

Other requirements:

Strong understanding of international import and export procedures

Working knowledge of customs legislation, Incoterms and international shipping documentation

Ability to research and interpret changing trade regulations

Strong analytical and problem solving ability

Ability to investigate and resolve complex shipping issues independently

Commercial awareness and freight cost optimisation

Existing relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers or shipping providers would be advantageous

Comfortable making decisions where no documented process exists

Key Performance Areas

International & Domestic Logistics Coordination

Coordinate end to end domestic and international shipments from quotation to successful delivery

Arrange collections and deliveries for imports, exports, repairs, returns, demonstration equipment, samples and project shipments

Monitor shipments through to final delivery and proactively resolve delivery issues

Coordinate cargo insurance requirements where applicable

Serve as the subject matter expert on import and export regulations

Research and remain current on customs legislation, sanctions, permits and country specific requirements

Prepare, review and verify all shipping and export documentation

Ensure accurate tariff classifications, country of origin declarations and customs information

Ensure full compliance with international trade legislation and company policies

Evaluate freight quotations based on cost, transit time, service levels and compliance

Liaise effectively with freight forwarders, customs brokers, courier companies, suppliers, customers and regulatory authorities

Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics partners to ensure reliable service delivery

Shipping Operations & Inventory Control

Physically prepare, package and secure shipments according to product and destination requirements

Measure, weigh, label and prepare consignments for collection

Maintain shipping consumables, packaging materials and an organised, safe shipping area

Maintain accurate shipment records, freight costs, tracking information and ERP data

Investigate and resolve shipment delays, customs queries and documentation discrepancies

Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs and enhance customer service

Support the wider Supply Chain team with specialist logistics and international trade advice
